Paris - Day 7

I think it's official, we have become lazy sleep in people :) We didn't even get up today until 9am, that is like sleeping in all day for us! After our lazy morning, we made our way over to our favourite bakery/cafe. Can you imagine, they were already out of pain de chocolate...so sad. I had to try another chocolate pastry and let me tell you, it was delish too! I also took Janet's advise and asked for cafe creme and it was soo much better, thanks for the tip!

Rick in our favourite bakery.

Every bakery has these hamburger looking type cookies that say Macaroon's on the sign. I kept thinking about trying one but would forget when I ordered my morning pastry or my evening baguette. I don't really like macaroon's in Canada but they are on cakes, in every window so I felt we needed to at least try them. So tonight I took the plunge and got us a chocolate one. Good thing we didn't try them on day 1, we may have actually gained some weight with these seriously amazing little cookies. If you are in Paris, make sure to try them!

Hamburger looking macaroons...sooo good!

Talking of hamburgers, we haven't had anything like it all week but tonight we are planning to eat in the apartment before packing (such a sad thought) for our trip to London tomorrow. We couldn't resist trying the L'Americain from our bakery - hamburger & fries on a baguette type bun!! Will let you know how it is :)

L'Americain sandwich :)

After our coffee & pastries, we headed east of Paris to Chessy for a more North American type day of outlet shopping :) We decided on our way to take the RER train another stop to check out Disneyland Paris. We didn't go in (at 49 euro's each) but did take a look from the outside and had a nice Starbuck's coffee before heading back to the shopping district.

Disney Village had lots of shops and restaurants.

For Rick - a Coca Cola cafe :)

Disneyland Paris' Security?! SCARY!!!!

We got back onto the RER and back another stop to visit La Vallee Village outlet shops. The weather wasn't too great today so we were excited to see an actual mall with lots of really nice shops.

A nice looking hotel outside the mall.

Tomorrow we have to get up early to catch our Eurostar Train to London. Looking forward to the trip and seeing a new country. Will definitely miss lots of things here in Paris.

Till tomorrow from London :)

ps. I see the Canadian Agility Team has made it to the UK safe and sound. Looking forward to seeing them kick some butt and bring home some medals :))))

  1. You can now get these in macaroons in Toronto.

  2. Did you buy anything at the outlet mall? I think that you need to post a pastry review from your entire trip with * beside each one for those of us contemplating a trip to France!

I need the same thing for shopping! Great blog Shona!

  3. I've never seen an "American Sandwich"! Fries and all.... Very interesting.

Did you buy anything on your whole trip? Sounds like you visited lots of stores, but when you left on Monday, you still only had that one small suitcase!

  4. The only other place I have seen fries on a sandwich is in Pittsburg PA, and it was delish too.
We did buy a few clothing items and in London lots of chocolate to bring back for people. Mostly gifts and a couple of things each. We had that huge backpack that I am sure no one would have been able to put on thier back Monday! plus the Canada bag full of gifts.
